Rebecca Antista, M. Ed, Director of Social Emotional (Academic) Learning -SE(A)L 


Rebecca (she/her), PowerTools’ Director of SE(A)L, is PowerTools’ team member who leads most of our SE(A)L contracts, working in collaboration with schools to design, implement, support, and assess Advisory and other social emotional learning programs. Rebecca’s background as a middle and high school teacher as well as HS Advisory coach positions her perfectly to relate to teachers, write relevant and high quality SE(A)L content, model best practices, and infuse SE(A)L with a healing centered (trauma-informed) and culturally responsive lens.

Rebecca has long been an education advocate, content developer, educator and facilitator. She taught Social Studies to middle and high school students for 13 years as a NYC public school teacher during which time she was also an Advisory coach, professional development leader and teacher mentor. Rebecca won numerous awards from both administration and students including Teacher of the Year and the EBC High School for Public Service Essence Award. Rebecca’s focus is creating respectful and dynamic curriculum that inspires sophisticated thinking, excitement and community activism. Rebecca’s expertise includes Advisory, classroom management, curriculum development, facilitation, student-centered instruction, and youth development.
