Adam Stumacher, Education Consultant
Adam Stumacher is an educational consultant, coach, facilitator, and author who has been working in urban schools for more than 25 years. He is passionate about academic engagement and social emotional learning, schoolwide and districtwide culture and climate, creating environments where all learners thrive, and leveraging the power of story to build communities of belonging.
He began his teaching career as a middle school teacher in Oakland, California before working for over a decade as a high school teacher in Boston Public Schools. He was honored as a two-time recipient of the Sontag Prize in Urban Education and was awarded a fellowship at the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College. After leaving the classroom, Adam served as Director of Instruction at the Henderson K-12 Inclusion School in Boston, designing and facilitating whole school professional learning, coaching teams of teachers, and coordinating assessments and data analysis. In recent years, Adam has been serving in the nonprofit space, supporting systems change in schools and district around the country through leadership roles at Engaging Schools and Teach For America. As an author and thought leader, his writing has appeared inThe New York Times,, his storytelling has been televised onStories from the Stage, and his commentaries have aired on NPR.
